The documentary provides a detailed and perspective-shifting portrayal of apartheid and the lasting inequalities in South Africa. It exposes the historical roots of contemporary issues and highlights the effects of colonialism and racism.

This documentary examines the lasting and structural impact of apartheid through archival footage and numerous interviews. One of the interviewees is the grandson of Hendrik Verwoerd, the "Architect of Apartheid," who reflects on his family's history. Despite the abolition of the system in 1994, South Africa remains one of the countries which has the greatest inequality.

The film is a classic documentary with interviews and archival footage, but it manages to fully and clearly convey the complexity of apartheid. It provides a historical overview of the colonization by the Dutch and the British, up to the institutionalization of apartheid. The film goes beyond Mandela's election and shows how inequality persists.
