Ana, Patricia, and Mayela grew up in a world where sexuality was shrouded in taboo. Now they are over 65, they can finally speak openly and reflect on their femininity.

Three women over the age of 65 reflect on their lives, focusing on the different stages of their femininity. It begins with first loves and menstruation, seamlessly transitioning into sexual exploration. A chapter is also dedicated to motherhood. Finally, the film examines later-life sexual liberation and newfound love.

Memorias de un cuerpo que arde is a beautiful film that weaves the present and the past in an original way. This makes this little jewel even more enjoyable. The memories are beautifully depicted, often with love, but sometimes with pain. The film touches on the many stages and milestones of a woman’s life, and it is precisely this that creates an empathetic and truthful picture. An original and honest film that speaks to openness. All aspects of womanhood are unhesitatingly liberated from the realm of taboo.
