Gondola is a warm and uplifting love story where words are unnecessary, and creativity rules. Soar above the Georgian mountain landscape and be amazed by the imagination of this film.

In the mountains of Georgia, a cable car connects a village with a small town. Every half hour, two gondolas pass each other, and add to the budding love between the two conductors, Iva and Nina. With the help of others, they both try to thrill the other during each encounter. Unfortunately their boss sees things differently.

Director Veit Helmer manages to surprise by creating a rich film without dialogue and within a restrictive concept, filling it with fantastic elements and related themes. The warm tones, the epic setting, and the blossoming love between the two main characters feel like a comforting embrace. The playful naivety with which the story unfolds makes for a captivating film where queerness and tradition meet each other within the community.

"Through the lens of cinematographer Goga Devdariani, Georgia is luscious and this is as much a romance with the location as it is between the two women." − The Queer Review
