Lina sets out in search of stories from her Palestinian family. Beyond being a heartfelt documentary, Bye Bye Tiberias is a powerful film about the history of the Jewish-Palestinian conflict.

Tiberias is an idyllic town by a lake. It was once part of Palestine, but after the 1948 war, it became part of Israel. Lina grows up in Paris but is curious about her Palestinian mother's birthplace. Together, they travel to Tiberias to meet the women of their family and understand how the Israeli occupation has drastically changed their lives.

This family story, set against a highly relevant political and social backdrop, is characterized by a calm, sensitive, and sometimes emotional narrative style. Personal videos from the family archive and black-and-white footage provide a broader context for the story. However, it is the film’s subtlety that makes Bye Bye Tiberias especially powerful.
