This drama offers a sharp vision of human nature and social inequalities in a disrupted society.

Edgar, Ana, and their son Bruno live high up in a luxury apartment building. The country is in crisis: people are stockpiling food, water is running low, and power outages are constant. Edgar spends his time scanning the surroundings with his binoculars. One day, he sees an lively celebration taking place at the nearby zoo marking the gift of a hippopotamus.

‘Zafari’ presents a dystopian world in which a decaying luxury apartment reflects the disintegration of society. The arrival of a hippopotamus at the zoo acts as a catalyst, further intensifying the conflicts between the social classes. With satire and humor, the director exposes the absurdity of social structures during a struggle for survival. The unique style and intricate symbolism lift ‘Zafari’ to produce an intriguing and ironic film.
