In ‘My Sunshine’, two young people find solace and emotional moments of self-discovery through figure skating. Accompanied by the beauty of the landscape and the nostalgia of childhood, Okuyama weaves a tale with understated charm.

Life on a small Japanese island is marked by the changing seasons. During the winter, ice hockey is the most important thing at school, but young Takuya isn't really interested. His real passion is Sakura, a rising figure skating star from Tokyo. As the winter months pass, his feelings for her grow, and a warm relationship develops between the two.

A lovely, intimate, and endearing film where unspoken feelings form the delicate centerpiece. The moving and simple story told by Japanese director Hiroshi Okuyama has a soft, velvety quality and humble ambitions that are completely fulfilled. A beautiful song heard during the credits subtly summarizes the film.
