Horizonte is both a stunning visual achievement and a bittersweet elegy to the past. A fascinating, complex, and captivating film that takes us on a spiritual journey.

Inés, Basilio’s mother, has been missing for a long time. Basilio travels into the Colombian countryside to find her, only to find that both his mother and he, her son are already dead. They decide to journey together through a war-torn landscape to understand the past and their fate. The result is an existential journey, where challenging questions about life may or may not be answered.

It is both difficult and unnecessary to fully understand the film. After all, this is not a film that demands a clear interpretation, nor even allows for one. Any attempt at doing so will only frustrate the viewer. The film consists of an endless stream of nightmarish images, which can be either unsettling or beautiful, depending on your perspective. It takes you on a spiritual journey.
