‘The Iron Claw’ is gebaseerd op het waargebeurde verhaal over de opkomst en de ondergang van de bekende worstelaarsfamilie Von Erich. Onder het bewind van vader Fritz bestormen de onafscheidelijke broers Kerry, Kevin, Mike en David de wereldtop van het showworstelen in de jaren tachtig. Hoewel het hen in de ring voor de wind gaat, spelen er zich buiten de ring ondraaglijke persoonlijke tragedies af te spelen. Een hartverscheurende familieverhaal over (giftige) mannelijkheid, de competitieve drang om de top te bereiken en het uiteenvallen van dromen. Een worstelfilm, maar vooral een aangrijpend drama.
