The Great Green Wall

The Great Green Wall is one of the most inspiring and urgent movements in our time. This African-lead initiative’s goal is to grow an 8,000 km natural wonder of the world stretching across the entire width of the continent, to transform the lives of millions living on the frontline of climate change.

Malian singer Inna Modja travels along the length of the Great Green Wall from Senegal to East Africa to bring into focus at the local level, the effects of dramatic climate change. Food shortage, conflicts, and migration prove that entire regions and nations are in danger. During her journey, Inna meets various artists and musicians, all of whom take social dislocation as the subject of their art. The hope in their music brings vitality and confidence to the megalomaniac plan to halt the advance of the Sahara by planting a long belt of forest.

'The Great Green Wall' is not only a documentary that shows us the actuality of climate change in tangible reality; it also shows humanism, activism and most of all: solidarity.
