‘My Favourite Cake’ is a heart warming quest for new love, telling an honest, gentle, and profoundly human story. The Iranian regime banned the film in its home country due to the dance scenes, alcohol use, and criticism of the morality police.

It's never too late for love. This is what the lonely Iranian widow Mahin discovers as, at seventy, she wonders whether life still has anything to offer her. Encouraged by her friends, she decides to search for a man. She meets Faramarz, a man of her age. Mahin opens herself up to a new romance, and an unexpected encounter evolves into an unforgettable evening.

‘My Favourite Cake’ is a charming, captivating, often hilarious, and above all, romantic comedy. A crowd-pleaser full of joie de vivre. This film is yet another Iranian gem with gentle humor and just the right amount of irony. Moreover, ‘My Favourite Cake’ includes a few scenes with mild criticism of the Iranian regime. This was probably the reason why both directors were banned from traveling and, therefore, were not able to attend the premiere in Berlin.
